About ALISON
Trained midwife, general nurse and homeopath, Alison Lovett, has spent over 30 years supporting new mothers to breastfeed their babies whilst living and working in several different countries across the globe. She had her own children in the Middle East where she also practised professionally with local women, observing the skills traditionally passed down through the generations, which enable new mothers to breastfeed with such apparent ease and with only very occasional problems. Her teaching methods have since focused on reflecting these practices, and her service is now largely based on providing step-by-step advice and support to enable her clients to establish lactation smoothly, comfortably and enjoyably. She aims to make the breastfeeding process as simple as possible, utilising the natural lactation cycle, and methods based on her extensive experience, as well as the most recent evidence and research.
Alison encourages her clients to think of mastering breastfeeding as a period of apprenticeship - guiding her clients from the point of the first consultation until lactation is fully established when the baby is about six weeks of age. All her consultations are routinely conducted using video calling which provides a powerful (socially distanced!) medium for close and private observation and discussion, and optimises Alison's availability to follow up - often during several feeds on the same day - to ensure her clients have mastered the required techniques to feed their babies comfortably and effectively.
Alison’s global client-base spans the UK and as far afield as the west coast of the USA. She has been interviewed on numerous BBC and local radio stations, advocating the need for greater support for breastfeeding mothers. Alison holds professional indemnity insurance to protect her clients during her work.
